Career Experience

Macdonalds

Manager/ Crew trainer. 2018 - 2022

Like many, my first job was at McDonald's. While my time there was longer than most, it helped me gain work and life skills immensely.  In my later years, I took on a management role, which kick-started my current career.

I managed daily operations, including cash handling, inventory control, and food safety compliance.

Delivered excellent customer service, resolving complaints efficiently and professionally.

Trained and onboarded new employees, improving team performance and retention.

Monitored drive-thru and front counter service times to ensure speed and accuracy targets were met.

Conducted shift planning, delegated tasks, and optimised labour to meet sales forecasts. Maintained compliance with health, safety, and company operational standards.

Assisted with recruitment, scheduling, and performance reviews.

Analysed sales reports and implemented strategies to increase revenue and reduce waste.

Plumbing

Apprenticeship with Marshal Maintenance 2020-2023

Unlike many, my career aspiration was to be a plumber, making a simple but impactful difference in people's lives. Simple things that we take for granted, like hot water and running tap water, I was able to help provide and maintain those necessities.

Working as a plumber for three years shaped who I am and the skills I bring to my future career.

I learned quickly to solve complex problems on the spot and to stay calm under pressure.

Although the job was gratifying, it did come with hardships, being a young woman in a male‑dominated field wasn’t easy. There were moments when I felt intimidated, underestimated, and excluded before I even set foot on the jobsite. But instead of letting that hold me back, it pushed me to become more confident, resilient, and sure of my abilities. I learned to speak up, trust my judgement, and prove that I belonged there.

These experiences strengthened my adaptability, work ethic, and commitment to fairness, qualities that now guide my studies and future goals. They taught me how to navigate challenging environments with confidence and how to bring an ethical mindset into any workplace.
